ATEX
"ATEX" is a European regulation for safety in explosive atmospheres. Similar regulations also exist outside the EU, such as IECEx internationally or NEC 500 in the USA, which also ensure that equipment and work environments are safe to avoid explosions.ZONE: Gas
In ATEX regulations, "gas zones" refer to areas based on their explosion risk from gases or vapors:
- Zone 0 (1G): Explosive atmosphere is almost always present.
- Zone 1 (2G): Explosive atmosphere may occur during normal operation.
- Zone 2 (3G): Explosive atmosphere occurs rarely and only for a short time.
These zones help determine appropriate safety measures and equipment for each risk level.
ZONE: Dust
For areas with explosion hazards due to combustible dust, there is also an ATEX zoning classification:
- Zone 20 (1D): An area where combustible dust is present as a cloud in the air continuously or frequently.
- Zone 21 (2D): An area where combustible dust may occasionally form in the air under normal operating conditions.
- Zone 22 (3D): An area where combustible dust normally does not occur in the air or only occurs for a short time.
This classification helps to establish appropriate protective measures for areas with dust explosion hazards.
Methane & Hydrogen
"M+" and "H2" in ATEX codes indicate that equipment can be safely used with methane (M+) or hydrogen (H2). This makes these devices particularly suitable for use in environments such as hydrogen refueling stations or in mining, where methane or hydrogen pose specific risks.Ignition temperature
The ignition temperature indication such as "T150°C" or "T4" shows the maximum surface temperature that a device may reach without causing an explosion. "T150°C" means that the device is safe up to 150°C, and "T4" stands for a safe limit below 135°C.The lower the ignition temperature class, the lower the risk that the device ignites an explosive atmosphere.
The SUPAHERO handheld lamp from KSE-Lights has impressed our team. Previously, we used a heavier model, and the difference is enormous. You only realize how burdensome the old weight was when you use this lightweight lamp. Its convenience and comfort are top-notch. A great gain for our work.
In our pit indispensable, the helmet lamp offers impressive brightness and safety. It could be a bit lighter, but highly recommended.
I'm really impressed with the LED Mamba. It provides so much light that we can illuminate our corridors and rooms with just one lamp. We have three of the 25-meter ones in use and are completely satisfied. No matter where we work, the Mamba makes it bright as day. Great piece!
Quickly set up and distributes a great, even light throughout the room. Simply excellent for our work.
